The Role: As an Activity Leader, you'll be at the heart of our mission, inspiring international young learners to explore, engage, and grow. You'll be a vital part of our exciting Excursion/Activity program, guiding students through unforgettable adventures that complement their language learning journey. From bustling city tours to exhilarating on-site activities, you'll play a crucial role in creating a vibrant and immersive experience.
This role is subject to seasonal fixed term employment during the summer 2026. Residential and non-residential opportunities are available during peak periods.
Responsibilities
- Activity Planning:
- Plan and lead a variety of engaging activities and excursions that spark curiosity and excitement.
- Focus on risk aversion through attentive observation and updating risk assessments.
- Manage time appropriately by arriving early to set up the activity and gather resources.
- Student Welfare:
- Take ownership of your group's safety, completing registers, head counts and administering basic first aid.
- Ensuring compliance with the CLAN Safeguarding Policy through effective implementation of safeguarding practices.
- Support with welfare duties, taking an active role in the pastoral duties of caring for children during breaks, mealtimes and wake-up/night duty.
- Communication:
- Communicate clearly to culturally diverse students to promote the activity programme, noticeboards and rules.
- Work closely with fellow Activity Leaders, the Centre Manager and our dedicated Operations team to ensure seamless coordination of excursions and airport transfers.
- Captivate your audience and lead engaging educational city tours.
- Be a Role Model:
- Embrace our company values.
- Lead fun excursions into cities that are safe, organised and impactful.
- Represent CLAN by travelling to the airport and greeting the learners.
- Documentation:
- Implement and enforce safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and risk assessments for each activity.
- Familiarise yourself with all CLAN documents, excursion material and the Activity Leader handbook.
- Monitoring students’ well-being by reporting and escalating any incidents through our incident report form procedure.
- Cultural Integration:
- Infuse cultural elements into activities to provide students with a holistic language learning experience.
- Promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation among participants.
- Feedback and Improvement:
- Collect feedback from students regarding activities to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the management team to enhance the overall activity program.
Must Have
- Previous experience in organising and facilitating activities for groups, preferably in an educational or language school setting.
- Team player attitude.
- Pride in their work and a determination to grow.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles.
- An ability to handle unexpected situations and resolve conflicts calmly and efficiently.
- Energetic, creative, and passionate about providing enriching experiences for students.
- Valid work permit for United Kingdom.
Desirable
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Sports/Drama/ Psychology/ History/Art/Teaching-related degree is a huge plus.
- Knowledge of Scottish history and landmarks is advantageous.
- Additional languages
- Valid Enhanced DBS or PVG
