As the position for which you are applying involves interaction with children, it is important that you provide us with legally accurate answers.

Disclosing a criminal record upfront will not automatically disqualify you from being considered for the role. We will take into account factors such as the nature of the offense, the time that has passed since it occurred, the age at the time, and other relevant considerations. Please provide this information confidentially by enclosing the details in a separate sealed envelope addressed to the HR Department. This disclosure will typically be retained until the application process concludes and then securely destroyed after a short retention period. If you wish to discuss this matter beforehand, please contact our HR Department for guidance.

Please disclose any unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings, as well as any sanctions or disqualifications related to working with children, unless they are considered ‘protected’ under the law. Certain spent convictions and cautions are classified as ‘protected’ and do not need to be disclosed when applying for specific jobs or activities. Employers cannot consider protected disclosures in their hiring decisions. Failure to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings (that are not subject to DBS filtering) may disqualify you for appointment or result in summary dismissal if the discrepancy comes to light subsequently.
